Most of the people I work with are not casual sellers. They bought their home years ago, sometimes many decades ago, and every room holds something. That is why I treat this work as a conversation first and a transaction second.
I have lived in these foothills my entire life. I have watched these neighborhoods change over time, and I know that a long-term homeowner is making one of the biggest decisions of their life. My job is to make that decision feel manageable.
What long-term ownership changes about a sale
A home that has been in one household for a long time often has features and quirks that never show up in a listing template: an original kitchen, a wood-burning fireplace, an addition from a different decade, a backyard that has been tended for years. I take the time to see the house the way a buyer will see it and the way you see it, and to explain the difference without making you feel judged.
It also means there may be a lot of belongings. We plan the timeline around the real work of sorting, keeping, donating and moving, not around a calendar I pulled from a template.
How I help
- A walk-through and a plain-language plan. We go room by room, talk about what matters to you, and agree on a sequence of steps before anything is public.
- Preparation that respects your budget. I will tell you honestly what is worth doing and what is not. Past clients have appreciated being able to stage with furniture they already had.
- Clear explanations. I explain each step as we reach it so you always know what is coming and can ask questions.
- Exposure and negotiation. When it is time to go to market, I plan open houses and marketing and negotiate on your behalf with your goals in mind.
- Follow-through after closing. I am your neighbor. I will still be around long after the closing.
What I do not do
I do not use pressure, countdown tactics or a script. I will not tell you that you have to decide this week. If you are not ready, I would rather help you plan for later than rush you into something you will regret.
I am also not a substitute for your attorney, accountant or financial advisor. If your situation involves taxes, a trust or a larger estate plan, I will work alongside those professionals and give them what they need from me.
Where this applies
I work with long-term homeowners across La Crescenta, Sunland, Tujunga and Lake View Terrace, and in nearby foothill communities such as Montrose, Shadow Hills and La Canada Flintridge. If your situation is closer to a sale after a loss, see trust and estate sales. If you are weighing a smaller home, see downsizing and life transitions.
